A renowned composer, pianist and conductor, Egyptian born Omar Khairat is also the driving force behind the Omar Khairat Group. Best known for creating a bridge between contemporary Arabic music and Western trends, he began working on film scores in the mid 80s, including his noted The Night of Arresting Fatma piece. Able to tap into Arab and Western consciousness, he’s gained fans across the world and has performed at international events in Jordan, Spain and his native Egypt and has won over 20 awards for his soundtracks during his long and illustrious career. As well as working on over 50 movie soundtracks, he’s also been responsible for creating music on dozens of TV dramas including Escape from Prison, Agent 1001 and In Bad and Good Times. A prolific and incredibly versatile composer, Omar Khairat has developed his own style of music which spans jazz, pop, rock and Middle East genres, and is as in demand now as when he first started in his music career 40 years ago, with recent gigs announced in Dubai with tickets on sale via Platinumlist. As Omar Khairat says himself, ‘music is the only language all people understand irrespective of race, culture and creed. Music is not related or connected to nations and their borders, neither geographical nor political.’
